William H. Zuber Memorial Scholarship

The William H. Zuber Memorial Scholarship was established to foster interest in chemistry as an academic major and assist students in the completion of the ACS-accredited Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree. This scholarship was established in 1998 to honor this faculty member and former student. The scholarship recognizes exceptional academic achievements by undergraduate students in chemistry. One scholarship, in the amount of $1000, may be awarded each year.

Eligibility:

Eligible students must be declared majors in the B.S. in Chemistry (42 credit hour degree) program who have completed at least 16 hours of chemistry course credit towards this degree. Further, the student must enroll in 6 or more credit hours of chemistry courses during both the Fall and Spring semesters which are supported by the scholarship. Continuation of funding under the Award during the second semester is contingent upon completing all chemistry courses with a B or better during the first semester.

Second-time scholarship recipients qualify under the same guidelines except that they must have completed 28 hours of chemistry course credit towards the B.S. in Chemistry degree.

Under special circumstances, outstanding freshman and sophomore chemistry majors may be considered.

Criteria for selection:

Recipients are chosen by an Awards Committee consisting of members of the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the Department of Chemistry. The Awards Committee will consider overall GPA, chemistry course GPA, courses taken, and chemistry related activities such as active membership in the Student Affiliates of the ACS in their selection of the scholarship recipient.

Scholarship policies:

An award will only be made if the Awards Committee deems an eligible student is deserving. Payment of the $1000 per year scholarship will be made in $500 increments each semester after the final drop date for that semester.
