UM Chemistry/Undergraduate Advising/Permits for Courses

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS ATTEMPTING TO REGISTER FOR CHEM-1110:

**If you receive the following error message when registering for lecture: "Link error - L1 requirement" and/or "Prerequisite and test score error" when registering for lab, you have not selected a Recitation section. Recitation sections, which are help sessions, are required when registering for lecture. You must register for the lecture and recitation at the same time. If when registering for lecture, recitation, and lab at the same time, you still receive an error, register for the lecture and recitation first.

It is very important that students realize that these permits requests are not for the Regents Online Degree Programs (RODP) classes offered by TBR. For example, CHEM 1110-R50, General Chemistry I and Lab, is intended only for students pursuing online teacher certification and requires special permissions as detailed in the Course Schedule Listing. Please contact Mary Crites at (901) 678-5784 for permits for on-line classes.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS ATTEMPTING TO REGISTER FOR THE SUMMER BIOCHEMISTRY COURSE:

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU FILL OUT THE PERMIT REQUEST

If you encounter problems when attempting to register for a chemistry course, you will need to submit a Permit Request Form. The following are reasons for submitting a permit request and further instructions:

If you have taken the prerequisite for the class and made a grade of C- or better, please submit your transcript reflecting this information at the same time you submit the permit request form. If you do not know what the prerequisite is for the class, please contact your advisor.
  2. Research course. Permission of mentor acquired. Please provide research prospectus at the same time you submit the permit request form.
  3. Auditing the class. You must provide a note from the professor teaching the course at the same time you submit the permit request form.
  4. Permission of instructor. Please provide the permission from the instructor at the same time you submit the permit request form.
