General Chemistry II Laboratory--CHEM 1121
Students to be served: This course is required for Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, and Dietetics majors, and will also be taken by students preparing for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and related health professions. These students will also take General Chemistry II, CHEM 1120. Prerequisite: CHEM 1111 with a grade of at least C-. Corequisite: CHEM 1120. (This class can be taken prior to CHEM 1121 with a grade of at least C-). Course Description: Continuation of CHEM 1111. Experiments and experimental techniques in general chemistry. Textbook and other materials: CHEM 1121 Laboratory Manual Course Objectives: This laboratory course is designed to help students to better understand and apply chemical principles learned in the accompanying General Chemistry II lecture. Students will learn to design and perform experiments in measurement, synthesis, and analysis of chemical compounds and solutions. Course Outline: Experiments cover the following topics:
Grades: Students must attend weekly laboratory sessions and hand in acceptable laboratory reports. Overall grade will be based on individually graded lab reports plus one final exam. Policies:
