| On Oct 17, 2008, the students in our National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE)
Chapter will host Dr. Alvin Holder for a "meet and greet" with undergraduate students interested in research, careers in chemistry,
and Dr. Holder's experiences in science and academia. The lunch and talk will begin at 12:30 PM in Smith Chemistry 220. Dr. Holder is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. Dr. Holder holds a B. Sc (Hons) and a Ph.D. from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica. After graduating, Dr. Holder held post doc positions at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (with Ed Stiefel), Virginia Tech (with Karen Brewer), The Ohio State University (with Peng George Wang), and Colorado State University (with Debbie Crans). On the same day, Dr. Holder will also present at our departmental seminar at 3:30 PM in SM 102. The title of his presentation is "The Photodynamic Therapeutic Process:-New Developments with Transitional Metal complexes". |
