Aviv 410 Spectrometer

This NSF-funded Aviv 410 Spectrometer has arrived and been installed.

The Aviv 410 Spectrometer measures circular dichroism and absorbance and has fluorescence detection with titration, stopped flow, and temperature control accessories.

The Aviv Circular Dichroism Spectrometer, model 410, records CD as a function of wavelength, time, temperature, pH and concentration using a double monochromator containing two UV grade prisms as dispersing elements. Right and left circularly polarized light is produced by a 50 KHz photoelastic modulator.

SPECIFICATIONS:
Wavelength Range: 165 nm to 900 nm.
Stray Light: Less than 0.005% at 200 nm, less than 0.1% over
operating limits.
Slit Program: Constant bandwidth from 0.01 to 12 nm. Automatic
slit closure option to protect sample and optics from UV light.
Baseline Drift: Less than +/- 0.05 mdeg per hour after warm-up, providing environment is held at 24ºC +/- 2ºC.
Light Source: 150 Watt suprasil Xenon lamp controlled by a high
stability, constant current, DC power supply.
RMS Noise
Less than:
0.1 mdeg at 185 nm
0.08 mdeg at 200 nm
0.06 mdeg at 500 nm

Dr. Trucchi Pram is the instrument manager for the CD. Dr. Abby Parrill is the faculty contact for this instrument.
