Homework:

Assigned homework problems will be written neatly into a hardbound composition book, and should be completed by the next class period. Homework books should be brought to class and answers will be discussed. Corrections should be made if necessary, and books will be submitted for examination on each Test day. Up to 5% extra credit for each test will be given for correct, neatly presented, homework.

It is highly recommended that in addition to the assigned homework, extra problems are worked to ensure familiarity with the course material and adequate preparation for the tests. Additional problems worked for practice should not be included in the homework book.

Grades:

Four in-class tests and a final examination will be given during the semester. Each test will count 20% toward the final grade. The grade for the final examination may be substituted for one missed test or lower grade. Make up tests will not be given.

Grades are expected to be in the range: A > 85 > B > 70 > C > 60 > D > 50 > F

Policies:

  • No make-up exams will be given. The grade on the final exam will be substituted for one missed test or lower score.
  • Reading and problem assignments should be completed before the designated period. Homework problems will not be collected, but will form the basis for class discussion.
  • Tardiness and unexcused absence from class are unprofessional behaviors which should be avoided, but attendance will not be graded.
  • Reasonable and appropriate accommodations will be made for students who present a memo from Student Disability Services.
